佛教经典。亦称《小无量寿经》，简称《小经》。与《无量寿经》、《观无量寿经》合称净土三经。一般认为在1～2世纪印度贵霜王朝时期已流行于犍陀罗地区。《阿弥陀经》是释迦牟尼佛在憍萨罗国舍卫城的南方祇园精舍，与长老舍利弗等十六位大弟子及文殊等大菩萨以及诸多佛弟子而说的经典。
