本书主要讲述作者摭拾扬州见闻成篇，意在劝诫世人。《雨花香》、《通天乐》合刻袁载钖序本。十二篇。作者：石成金，汤州人，字天基，号惺斋。生于顺治末，事亲孝，重然诺，着有《传家宝》四集，都百余种，取居家寻常事，演以俚俗语，意存激劝，颇行于世。乾隆初卒，年八十余，约当１６６０～１７３６年间。是清初文坛颇有影响力的作家之一。
