本书为记录南唐至宋初江南史事的纪传体史书，宋人云全书凡八十四传。今仅存十卷，首三卷分载南唐三主事迹，后七卷皆南唐诸臣传，凡三十四传，较宋人所见，已缺五十传。所记南唐史事，偶有疏略讹舛，宋人已多有指出。
